Philosophy of the Program

The multidisciplinary knowledge is applied to arrange teaching and learning for enhancing the potential of persons with special needs in every aspect.

The program is emphasis on adjustment of the graduate student's perspective to disabilities by providing the knowledge of various fields, such as formal and non-formal education, psychology, music, technology, and sign language etc. including management and leadership skills, virtue, morality, and professional ethics.


Admission Requirements

Plan A

  • 1. Students must hold a Bachelor degree or study during the last semester of undergraduate program in the field of education, arts, or any fields which is accredited by Thailand Council of the Teachers
  • 2. Receive a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50
  • 3. Exceptions to the above items may be considered by chairman of Program Committee and Dean of Faculty of Graduate Studies

Plan B

  • 1. Students must hold a Bachelor degree in the field of education, arts, or any fields which is accredited by Thailand Council of the Teachers
  • 2. Receive a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50
  • 3. Students must have working experience not less than two years.
  • 4. Exception to the above items may be considered by chairman of Program Committee and Dean of Faculty of Graduate Studies

Career after Graduation

  • 1. Special Education Specialist
  • 2. Education Personnel, both in formal or non-formal education, including basic education levels, vocational education, and higher education

Curriculum Structure

The program is set according to the Ministry of Education Announcement titled "Standard Criteria for Graduate Studies 2005", with specified plan A (2) and Plan B curriculum.

RSES 500 Disability and Persons with Disabilities 3 (3–0–6)

Meaning of disability and persons with disabilities; types and characteristics of persons with disabilities; causes of disabilities; consequences of disability from the viewpoints of academic disciplines, professions and society; rights of persons with disabilities; Independent living

RSES 501 Educational Research Methodology 3 (2–2–5)

Philosophy of educational research; review of related literature and research; research conceptual framework; research design principles; research proposal development; definitions and types of statistics and information; data analysis by using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics; Research writing; evaluation and critiques of research; dissemination and utilization of research finding; research ethics; research presentation at the International Conference


RSES 502 Developing the Quality of Life of Persons with 3 (3–0–6)
Special Needs Based on Education

Development and learning of persons with special needs; curriculum development and educational program; screening and assessment for educational plan and learning plan; media and technology for learning development; educational and vocational transition; trend of education for persons with special needs; best practices organizations


RSES 503 Management for Education Development 3 (2–2–5)

Policies and education law; roles and function of school personal; fundamental principle in management; changing ideas into action; referral process; evaluation process and monitoring students; working with advocacy groups; managing fund; special education budgets; building relationship with special education staff; evaluating special education staff; contracting with outside providers; working with other administrator; best practices organizations


RSES 504 Leadership Development for Individuals Working 3 (2–2–5)
with Persons with Special Needs

Development of leadership theories; responsibilities of leader; scope of project; resources; timelines and expectation; communication skills; team building; group dynamics; dialogue; conduct of the meeting; decision making; best practices organizations


RSES 505 Internship in Teaching for Persons 3 (0–12–0)
