Abstract

The objectives of this research were to develop and find the efficiency of the package for promoting language and communication development of children with hearing impairments in early stage. This is an experimental research with one group pre-test post- test design. Using purposive sampling method, this study involved eight children with hearing impairments in early stage. Aging between 2-6 years old along with the statistical methods of mean standard deviation and difference scores among sampling based on the statistical principles of Wilcoxon Signed Rank Sum Test. Findings illustrated that the language and communication development package of children with hearing impairments including 1) the Augmented Reality (AR) flash card 2) AR sign language application on android platform and 3) guidebook of using the language and communication development package of children with hearing impairments in early stage together with the efficiency score E1/E2 of 87.5/98 which meets the standard setting of 70/70. The research studied on the use of language and communication development package of children with hearing impairments in early stage with the sampling group in three stages including before (pre) – during (mid) and after (post) the experiment. The obtained data was then compared and analyzed based on the statistical principles of Wilcoxon Signed Rank Sum Test to determine the significant difference between the mean scores of pretest and posttest. The results of the study showed that there is a significant difference between the mean scores of the pre-test and mid-test of using the language and communication development package of children with hearing impairments in early stage at the level of 0.05, Z = -2.55, p-value = 0.01. In terms of mid-test and post-test of using the language and communication development package of children with hearing impairments in early stage, their mean scores are also significant different at the level of 0.05, Z = -2.585, p-value = 0.01. Similarly, there is a significant difference between the mean scores of the pre-test and mid-test of using the language and communication development package at the level of 0.05, Z = - 2.54, p-value = 0.01.
